Reading Notes: Public Domain Ramayana, Part B

  • Kind of crazy to lay down and mourn for 10 days straight
  • Why does Rama feel he needs to keep his promise to be exiled after his father died?
  • I would probably just have him return if Bharata wants him to come back so bad and is okay with it.
    • Everyone wants Rama to return anyway
  • Could Rama, Site, and Lakshman not have just said there were in the forest but found a city or some place to stay until they came back?
  • Rama is a beast. He defeated an army of 14 thousand of rakshasas by himself
  • Isn't it convenient that someone showed up right when Lakshmana left to check on Rama. Site should have stayed with Lakshmana to see if Rama was okay.
  • Smart that Sita dropped her jewelry as Ravana flew off with her to leave a trail for Rama to find.
  • If they encountered this much trouble all the time, they should have gone back home or found some where safe to stay.
  • If the brothers were so powerful and so many people knew of them, you would think this would not be this hard to find her.
  • In part a reading notes, I had said I liked the poetry and thought about using it, but I changed my mind.
    • It is much harder to follow when it is written as poetry
    • Much easier when it is just in a story form.
    • There are already too many names and words that are specific to this story that you have to remember.
  • I want to keep the names/details/etc simple and easy to remember
    • I have had to go back multiple times to figure out who people are
